Tim at The Journey cycle cafe in Newcastle
Good times at The Journey veggie/vegan cycle café in Newcastle.

If you had told me a few years ago that I would be starting a blog about vegan cooking and long-distance cycling I would have been confused. It’s all a bit new to me, the vegan thing especially. At the time of writing I’ve been vegan for about a month, this blog is an attempt to record the journey.

I like to cycle. A lot. In particular I like to cycle long distances (more on all that in due course). Learning that endurance athletes can fuel their activity without the need to eat meat or animal products was one of the things that prompted me to give this a try. I’ve written more about why I’ve made the change just here.

So what can you expect from this site? Well, as I learn how to be vegan I’ll be posting what I’m eating (along with poor-quality photos taken on my phone). I’ll talk about successes and failures and will pass on any tips I pick up. I’ll also be writing about cycling, in particular long-distance ‘audax’ rides. So, expect posts about food, bikes, and the philosophical, spiritual and emotional journeys that both of those take me on.

May the road rise to meet you, and may the wind be always at your back,
